It is my rest day today – so that means the weekly core work out at the Power Plate studio.

Powerplates are the weird looking machines, made famous by Madonna, that are in most gyms but people rarely use. You can read all about the benefits of using them here and here. Very basically it works by making muscles contract and relax up to 60 times a second and your core muscles are forced to engage to keep you stable.  If done properly it is a great way to build core stability and strength – the key to running injury free.

I do one 45 minutes session a week with Nick – the owner of this studio in Victoria. (You can get a free trial session to try it out if interested.)

This weekend I have two bike rides planned and my long slow run on Sunday.
